Rocking Out at FestivaLHC
On Sunday evening, July 11, Living Hope rocked out. But how did this happen? How could this happen? Well, a few months back, the entire church was challenged to think creatively about how they could contribute to LH360. So members of the Hub worship band thought they would do what they do best – jam. And FestivaLHC was born. Originally envisioned as an outdoor event, the weather would not cooperate, so it was held at Briarcrest from 5 to 8pm on that Sunday. But the event maintained a music festival atmosphere, with people eating and talking, kids and teenagers throwing frisbees and hula hooping, and some folks even dancing! The band, Depth Perception, featured Barker Howard, John Ackerman and Kevin Morgan, with special guests James Ackerman, Rachel Rice, Andrew Banker, and myself on a few songs. The music was a mixture of some original instrumental jams, classic rock, and current pop hits. Festival attenders were asked to contribute a $5 minimum gift to LH360 as they entered, and the event raised $1036. “It was a great 3 months of work and practice to grow closer as a band, and it all came together at the show,” said drummer Kevin Morgan. “And I never thought we would raise over a thousand bucks!” The students’ commitment and creativity have been a challenge to me. How can I use my gifts to contribute to God’s future work in Piperton, Vollintine-Evergreen, and beyond? How about you?

I am so proud of our children! Their dedication is awe-inspiring and I am humbled by their willigness to serve, by the use of their talents to worship, and by their hearts for Christ and His body!
It was sweet! Hope to do it again sometime.
