Kenya : Summer 09
Introduction to the Haven Orphanage – Eldoret, Kenya:
Living Hope Church and many individual Living Hopers have been very instrumental in the establishment of a home for orphaned and abandoned children in AIDS-riddled East Africa. The Haven was established in March 2005 on rental property in Eldoret, Kenya. God provided so abundantly, so quickly that a permanent home has now been established in the nearby village of Jua Kali. The children and caregivers of The Haven joined forces with the children and caregivers of The Fresh Start Home. The children have trusted Christ, and their lives are a testimony to the power of God to redeem and transform those who otherwise would have been left to live and die in the streets of Kenya. In the combined home there are currently 49 orphans and abandoned children with room to accommodate 79 more as the Lord provides resources to furnish the new home and feed the additional children.
Trip Overview:
The trip will focus on bringing Living Hope students face to face with the students of The Haven Children’s Home in Jua Kali, Kenya. We’ll share the love of Jesus with the Kenyan students of The Haven, and we’ll join the Kenyan students in reaching out to other children of the village through sports clinics, recreational activities, bible teaching, praise and worship.

The Hub AM
All students are invited to join us for Hub AM every Sunday morning. We get together down in front of the gym from 10:15-10:45 a.m. This is a place to connect with other students, meet GoGroup leaders, play some X-Box, eat breakfast snacks, get information about LH Student Ministry, and go into worship together. Come early for The Hub A.M. next week!
The Hub
At the Hub, our motto is in espanol - "Vaya con Dios" - which means "Go With God". Come to see your friends. Come for fun. Come to worship. But understand that the real reason you are coming to the Hub is to be sent out. To go with God into your world! We want to equip you to serve and love the people you interact with every day.
High School Hub - Sunday nights from 5:30-8pm This is the place to get connected, so don’t miss it. We worship, play, eat and dig into the Word together - looking for what it means to "Go With God" into our world. And that leads into the most important part of the night…
High School GoGroups - @the Hub Small groups are the heart of our ministry. In their GoGroups, High Schol students are challenged by awesome leaders to know God’s Word, to walk with God, to help each other and to serve their world. You need to be in a GoGroup, and your group needs you.
Sign up for events at the Hub AM or PM. Or contact Lana Grogan at our church office (901-881-6640; )
Living In Community - Serving on Sunday
A big part of LIVING IN COMMUNITY is serving the other members of the body of Christ. We hope for most of our HIGH SCHOOL students to be doing that on Sunday morning. Many already are serving in the children’s ministry, with Middle School students, and in other areas. Work one hour, go to worship service the other - that’s the idea. Contact Greg or Ross for more information.
